Connecting Spaces
Connecting Spaces was established with the aim of actively involving residents from the vibrant Hall Green District, which includes Sparkbrook, Springfield, Moseley, Kings Heath, and Hall Green, in local arts activities both within their community and at the Mac. This initiative has successfully fostered connections and partnerships among local artists, community groups, and various venues.
Generously funded by Arts Council England and The National Lottery, our project has empowered women in the area through a series of captivating drama and storytelling workshops. The participants have skillfully brought to life their diverse and enriching experiences, resulting in compelling works of art and much more.
In a remarkable collaboration with the Ashiana Community Project, local women took to the stage to perform a captivating musical drama, showcasing their previously undiscovered talents. This inspiring partnership has unearthed a plethora of deeply moving and poignant stories from these incredibly talented women. The performances, including two community shows and a public presentation at the prestigious Midland Art Centre in Birmingham, have provided a platform for their voices to be heard and celebrated.
